Creating a Template
Once you have entered all your contacts select the job button from the tool menu, click on add new job, enter all fields and then click on save and enter tasks manually. The Master Schedule opens with blank fields in the Detail window below. Begin entering the Task name, duration, select the Sub-contractor from the drop down box (TIP Press the first letter of the name of the Sub-contractor you wish to enter. If there are multiple entries with the same first letter, continue pressing that letter until the name is selected) then tab to the next field.
Dependency
Not all tasks are dependant upon other tasks (e.g. the first task entered cannot be dependant on any other task) Conversely, some tasks will have several tasks dependant upon it (e.g. painting, hardwood and tile can all be dependant on drywall)
When building a similar home, you may want to select a previous job which has a similar task list rather than enter all tasks manually. We recommend using a template in each instance because if you alter a job by a great deal, it will be duplicated on the new job created. Once you have created each template, click on the job button from the tool menu, select each template and make them INACTIVE otherwise they will show on the master schedule. You can create several templates to suit different building types. Create one template for each of the following; Small home, medium home, large home, condo, custom home, production home.
Link one job task to a different job
If you link one job's task to another job you will not be able to use this as a template. After creating a new job from a template you can then modify the task and then click on Update This Task.
